Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: Happy Easter infidels!
I'm still waiting for NOW to send a strongly worded letter of contempt to the Iranian president for this remark:
In a reference to Mrs Turney, Mr Ahmadinejad said: "How can you justify seeing a mother away from her home, her children. Why don't they respect the values of families in the West?"
Several photos were released of totally awesome guy Mahmoud chatting with the sailors, but the Daily Mail wasn't fooled.
The meeting was clearly staged for the Iranian media but there was no mistaking the relief of the Britons.
I guess Syria was intimately involved with the release of the hostages. How fast will Nancy Pelosi take credit for this one?
Iran appeared to be trying to turn the seizure of the patrol, which has been condemned by governments across the world, into a diplomatic victory with a beaming Mr Ahmadinejad speaking to the Navy personnel. One said: "Your people have been very kind to us." Mr Ahmadinejad wished them "good luck" and "success".
"We appreciate it. Your people have been really kind to us, and we appreciate it very much," one of the sailors could be heard on the footage. Another was heard to say: "We are grateful for your forgiveness." Mr Ahmadinejad responded to him in Farsi: "You are welcome."
Starring into the face of the enemy.
If Iran wasn't seeking a confrontation with Britain, and this was simply a case of Britain engaging in "deplorable action" ... why did Mahmoud give awards to the Iranian naval personnel who conducted the kidnapping in violation of the Geneva Conventions?
