"Hispanics Worry About Deportation." Talk About A Misleading Headline.

This has got to be one of the most misleading articles I've read in months. It comes to us courtesy of the Houston Chronicle.

More than half of Hispanic adults in the U.S. worry they or someone close to them could face deportation, reflecting a growing anxiety over expanded enforcement efforts, according to a new nationwide survey by the Pew Hispanic Center.

Nearly two-thirds of those surveyed said the debate over immigration reform and Congress' failure to pass legislation have made life more difficult for Hispanics.

Let's be clear ... hispanic adults aren't afraid of deportation, illegal aliens are. Obviously most illegals are hispanics, but this is just another attempt to "humanize" illegal aliens. In other words, they want to earn your sympathy by removing "illegal" from their official title.

Mexican Trucks To Be Monitored By Satelite

This will at least be of some comfort for you NAU folks out there.

Commercial trucks traveling to or from Mexico will be outfitted with a satellite tracking device to assuage fears that participants in a cross-border pilot program may not follow safety rules.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, or FMCSA, will spend $367,000 on 100 devices for trucks from the United States and Mexico to monitor them as they pick up and deliver loads, a spokeswoman said Tuesday.

The decision to require the installation of satellite-tracking technology was made after members of Congress questioned participants' compliance with U.S. safety and trade laws, said Melissa Mazzella DeLaney, an FMCSA spokeswoman.

10% Of Illegals With Serious Drug & Weapons Offenses Allowed To Enter U.S.

When I say "allow" I mean they are allowed to enter due to a broken system. Many would say that a 90% success rate is pretty solid, and in most other circumstances they'd be right. The problem is 10% of 12 million is still 1.2 million illegals who are serious drug and weapons offenders that have been able to sneak past our border guards. Keep in mind that most believe there are more than 12 million illegals in this country, but 1.2 million violent criminal aliens running wild in the US is unacceptable by any measure. I'm also not so sure the real number is only 10%, and I'm also assuming that they miss at least 10% every year.

The Statesman:

A new congressional review found that U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers failed to stop roughly 1 in 10 illegal immigrants and serious drug and weapons violators from entering the United States through airports and official land border crossings last year, the Washignton Post reported Tuesday.

Are we making strides in catching illegal aliens at the border? Yes, but we are falling behind in getting illegals out of the US once they are already here.

So, Now John Edwards Is A Conservative On Immigration?

We all know that Edwards doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of winning the Democratic nomination. Mainly because he's a kook, and not a smart one either. However, he has latched onto the most important issue among 2008 voters ... immigration.

Most Americans support a hard-line stance on illegals, and Edwards has (up to this point) been the exact opposite of what the American people want on this issue.

We must remember that there is an election to win, and Edwards being himself hasn't been getting it done. So ... it's time for the tried-and-true Democrat strategy to gain ground in an election ... change yourself.

Huffington Post:

At the debate and on ABC's This Week this past Sunday, Edwards drew a distinction between himself and Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, saying he disagreed with New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer's proposal to grant drivers licenses to undocumented immigrants. Clinton backs the proposal as a way of solving crimes and promoting road safety.

Moreover, Edwards said that while states should have say over the issue until comprehensive reform can be passed, once reform is enacted, licenses should only be granted to those immigrants who are on the path to citizenship.

Now his base (Huffington Post, Daily Kos types) are not too happy with his complete reversal of his stance on illegals.

Edwards' stance contrasts sharply from what he advocated as the Democratic vice presidential candidate in 2004, when he was unequivocal in his support for issuing driver's licenses to the undocumented.

So how does a candidate who has embraced progressive stances on many critical issues from 2004 to 2008 shift conservative on immigration? The answer, some analysts say, lies in the political dynamics of Iowa, the first caucus state.

First off, I'd like to point out that Edwards' new stance on licenses is not a conservative position as is being stated in the quoted post. True it is more conservative than the typical liberal stance, but not quite conservative.

As for this being a tactic to win the all important Iowa ... it's more likely than not, very true.

I've been reading what some liberal bloggers have been saying about Edwards' turnaround, and they seem to miss the point. They are critical of Edwards because this new stance is "conservative", but that is not the issue. The crux is that Edwards, like Clinton, has decided that it is more important to lie to potential voters in order to win. I credit Obama for not having done this.

We now have two of the three Democrat front-runners who have openly shown you their willingness to tell you what you want to hear rather than what they believe. That should be far more upsetting to liberals than Edwards taking a "conservative" stance on an issue.

Illegals Cost L.A. $1 Billion A Year

I know ... it's shocking.

Nationally, illegal aliens are more of a burden on social welfare programs than poor Americans. In fact, illegals use more food stamps than any other group of people in the US, and our government is promoting this travesty. If we could just prevent them from sucking the life-blood out of our welfare system ... perhaps we wouldn't need to constantly hear about how we "need" to spend more on social programs.

KHTS:

LA County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich has announced that a new report shows illegal aliens and their families in Los Angeles County collected over $35 million in welfare and food stamp allocations in July.

In the report, illegals are said to have collected nearly $20 million in welfare assistance for July 2007 and an additional $15 million in monthly food stamp allocations for an estimated annual cost of $440 million.

“Illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact on Los Angeles County taxpayers,”said Antonovich. “In addition to $220 million for public safety and $400 million for healthcare, the $440 million in welfare allocations bring the total cost to County taxpayers that exceeds $1 billion a year -- this does not include the skyrocketing cost of education.”

Seriously, we can't work out a trade for all the money we hand over to illegals, and get some oil out of Mexico?

Remember When Hillary Said Her Socialized Health Plan Wasn't Socialized? Well, It Is.

Take the poll at the top right of this page ...

UPDATE:

Will you be punished if you refuse to enroll in Hillary's new socialist health plan?

Many of you will remember when Hillary was asked by black journalists about the negative effects of her socialized health plan on the black community ... she responded by saying:

"I have never advocated socialized medicine. That has been a right-wing attack on me for 15 years."

Yesterday, Hillary rolled out her new "American Health Choices Plan." Well, it turns out that her 'non-socialized' health plan is very much ... socialized.

To refresh everyone on what socialized and socialized medicine means, I have included the following definitions:

Socialized Medicine:

Socialized medicine can refer to any system of medical care controlled and financed by the government.

Socialize:

1. To place under government or group ownership or control.
2. To make fit for companionship with others; make sociable.
3. To convert or adapt to the needs of society.

There, now we are all up to speed on what we are actually talking about here.

On Hillary's own website, you can read the summary of the plan in her own words.

Before we get started I'd like to point out that the idea you can increase the number of people insured, and increase the benefits while reducing the cost is absurd at best. Especially when you are talking about a minimum of 47 million new people.

This Plan covers every American - finally addressing the needs of the 47 million uninsured and the tens of millions of workers with coverage who fear they could be one pink slip away from losing their health coverage - with no overall increase in health spending or taxes. For those with health insurance, the plan builds on the current system to give businesses and their employees greater choice of health plans - including keeping the one they have - while lowering cost and improving quality. Specifically, the American Health Choices Plan will:

The language makes it sound good, but again you can't increase the number of the insured, and provide more benefits for less cost. This is grade school math people.

The Same Choice of Health Plan Options that Members of Congress Receive:
Americans can keep their existing coverage or access the same menu of quality private insurance options that their Members of Congress receive through a new Health Choices Menu, established without any new bureaucracy as part of the Federal Employee Health Benefit Program (FEHBP). In addition to the broad array of private options that Americans can choose from, they will be offered the choice of a public plan option similar to Medicare.

A Guarantee of Quality Coverage:

The new array of choices offered in the Menu will provide benefits at least as good as the typical plan offered to Members of Congress, which includes mental health parity and usually dental coverage.

Notice that they will have a 'public plan' to choose from. That's socialized medicine.

Americans who are satisfied with the coverage they have today can keep it, while benefiting from lower premiums and higher quality.

Again ... not possible.

Reducing Costs:
By removing hidden taxes, stressing prevention and a focus on efficiency and modernization, the plan will improve quality and lower costs.

Strengthening Security:
The plan ensures that job loss or family illnesses will never lead to a loss of coverage or exorbitant costs.

End to Unfair Health Insurance Discrimination:
By creating a level-playing field of insurance rules across states and markets, the plan ensures that no American is denied coverage, refused renewal, unfairly priced out of the market, or forced to pay excessive insurance company premiums.

This is the part that people will roll with their emotions on. Certainly, no one wants to be denied insurance, and I'd support that provision by itself. However, to not allow an insurance company to set their premium based on the health of the insured is blatant socialism. Many small companies will go under because of this provision. I don't believe people should not be able to get insurance, but I also believe that a company has the right to charge an appropriate premium based on the financial risk of the insured.

Relying on consumers or the government alone to fix the system has unintended consequences, like scaled-back coverage or limited choices. This plan ensures that all who benefit from the system share in the responsibility to fix its shortcomings.

This is damn risky! This allows the consumer influence over how a company operates. A company in a free market economy has the right to operate as it sees fit. Sometimes it works ... sometimes not. That's what the market is for. You do not let the customer tell the company how to do business.

Insurance and Drug Companies:
insurance companies will end discrimination based on pre-existing conditions or expectations of illness and ensure high value for every premium dollar; while drug companies will offer fair prices and accurate information.

Individuals:
will be required to get and keep insurance in a system where insurance is affordable and accessible.

Providers:
will work collaboratively with patients and businesses to deliver high-quality, affordable care.

Employers:
will help financing the system; large employers will be expected to provide health insurance or contribute to the cost of coverage: small businesses will receive a tax credit to continue or begin to offer coverage.

Government:
will ensure that health insurance is always affordable and never a crushing burden on any family and will implement reforms to improve quality and lower cost.

It doesn't get more socialize than to REQUIRE that all people get health insurance. What if I don't want health insurance? Maybe I have a medical savings account, or maybe I have enough money to pay cash for any medical issue that arises. Oh wait ... I get it now. I am going to be required to pay into the system so that my money will help cover the cost of those that are unhealthy who now get a discount on their premiums. I'M BEING TAXED!

Go to Hillary's site to read the last provisions of the plan.

At the very least, most Americans will now pay more money for their health care than they were before so we can provide lower cost insurance to people who have health problems. The plan is categorically unfair to those Americans that don't want health insurance for whatever reason.

To top it all off ... a very prudent question was asked about the plan that 'requires' all people to enroll. Will it cover illegals, or just American citizens?

Now Hillary has been working on this plan for over a decade now. You'd think she would have thought about this all important issue. Especially since illegals are such a massive burden on our medical industry. In fact, this could be the most important aspect of the plan's success or failure. So what was her response?

Senior [Clinton] policy adviser Laurie Rubiner–-while acknowledging that undocumented immigrants are a “huge issue” in this country–-said, “That’s one we’re going to have to think through a little bit.”

“We have not dealt with every single detail with this plan,” Rubiner continued.

They haven't even bothered to address the issue yet?

There is a couple of things to look at here. One of those being that illegals cost the medical industry about $35 billion a year. Which raises health care costs and premiums.

  1. If illegals are not required to enroll ... will they still receive the same medical care as everyone else?
  2. If so, won't premiums and costs continue to increase as the financial burden grows ... as it does now?
  3. If they are required to enroll ... will we then deport them as they come forward?
  4. If not, how can we confirm their income, and will their employers be punished?

If illegals are not required to enroll, but still receive the same benefits as Americans do you will see a backlash of which the likes have never been seen before.

I'm also wondering if abortion will be covered, but I think we all know the answer to that question.

Bill Richardson Pissed That Spanish Debate Was In English

I wish I were kidding, but I'm not.

WaPo:

"And I do want to say at this point that I was under the impression that in this debate Spanish was going to be permitted because I've always supported Univision all my career, but I'm disappointed today that 43 million Latinos in this country, for them not to hear one of their own speak Spanish -- (applause) -- is unfortunate," Richardson said. "In other words, Univision has promoted English only in this debate."

He then began speaking in Spanish, only to get cut off by the moderators. "The rules that the seven candidates have accepted for this debate is that everyone is going to communicate in English," one responded, "and everything would be translated into Spanish. Thank you very much."

The rebuke didn't stop the governor and only Latino candidate from speaking in Spanish. In the press room after the debate, both Richardson and Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), the only other fluent Spanish speaker of the seven candidates, both answered question after question in Spanish.

While picking this fight on camera allowed Richardson to speak more about his heritage, Univision had informed the candidates months before the debate answers would be in English and reminded them repeatedly before the debate, when Dodd and Richardson both started speaking in Spanish while testing their microphones. If Richardson had gotten his wish to speak Spanish, it's unlikely Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama would have showed up to the debate in the first place, defeating the purpose for Richardson.

Disgusting.

Illegal Uses 'Guilt Trip' Of Losing Her Baby To Remain In The US

  • Sneak into the US illegally -- check!
  • Continue to break US law for over a decade -- check!
  • Open an illegal business -- check!
  • Get pregnant to make it easier to stay in the US -- check!
  • Finally get caught by the authorities -- check!
  • Blame your miscarriage on the 'rough' treatment you received being deported -- check!
  • Go to court -- check!
  • Use a guilt trip to get the judge to allow you to stay in the US permanently -- check!

She is also "happy" and "very excited" at what has happened. Not very motherly of her to be happy given that she just miscarried.

Philadelphia Enquirer:

An illegal Chinese immigrant who miscarried twins after being hustled off for deportation by federal authorities in Philadelphia last year will be allowed to stay in the country permanently, a judge has ruled.

"I feel happy, very excited," Zhen Xing Jiang, 33, said yesterday. "I don't need to hide now."

Jiang's husband said the Philadelphia couple would like to resume a normal life, perhaps even running their own restaurant, as they had in the past. He said he hoped the decision would bolster his case for permanent residency.

"Finally, finally, we can settle down and make a living," said Tian Xiao Zhang, 36. He said their two young sons were overjoyed.

Jiang "is now allowed to stay in America," said her attorney, Richard Bortnick of the Cozen O'Connor law firm, reading from the order of federal Immigration Judge Barbara Nelson. "Her status is changed from illegal status to legal status."

Essentially the judge ruled that it was "our bad" to have tried to deport a pregnant woman, and it may have led to her miscarriage.

Jiang entered the United States illegally in 1995, coming from Fujian province on China's southeast coast, and for nearly a decade helped her husband run their Chinese restaurant in Philadelphia. On Feb. 7, 2006, she was 13 weeks pregnant with twins when she arrived at the Center City immigration office for what she expected to be a routine interview.

Instead, as her family sat unaware in the lobby, Jiang was taken into custody and driven to New York's John F. Kennedy Airport for immediate deportation.

The effort to expel her was halted when Jiang, complaining of stomach pain, was taken to a hospital and doctors learned she had miscarried.

In interviews, Jiang said she was roughly shoved into a van in Philadelphia and that her pleas for medical help were at first ignored - allegations the government denied.

They applied for asylum because of China's one child policy, but the government never really got to that part of the case. Yes, their two current children are US citizens.

Does Chief Border Patrol Agent Work For Drug Cartel?

I'm starting to consider the possibility.

Whenever I talk about the border I always get someone who claims that there is a conspiracy. Not that someone is allowing our country to be conquered, but that high ranking Border Patrol and government officials are on the take. In other words ... the reason they don't stop illegals and the drugs coming across the border is that they are being paid off. Most likely by the drug cartels who not only smuggle drugs across the border, but people too.

To prove my point ... I will link four major stories dealing with the current Border Patrol sector chief of Laredo, Carlos X. Carrillo.

Carrillo made headlines a couple of weeks ago when he proclaimed that it was not the Border Patrol's job to stop illegal immigrants, or narcotics, from crossing the border. Naturally this was outrageous, yielded great criticism.

Carrillo's comments soon became laughable as he went on to proclaim that the Border Patrol was not equipped to stop illegals or drugs ... yet was somehow was equipped to stop terrorism.

I decided to go to the Border Patrol's website to see if, in fact, their mission did not include illegals or drugs. I knew the answer, but it was still worth looking into. After I confirmed the Border Patrols mission, I decided to go the the Laredo sector's webpage. What I found sent me into gut-busting laughter, and left me with tears running down my cheeks.

Only days after Laredo sector chief Carrillo said that immigration and drugs were not his problem ... there it was. Right there on the Laredo sector's page of the Border Patrol's website was a letter written by, and signed by, Laredo sector chief Carlos X. Carrillo.

It contradicted everything Carrillo had said just days before. In the letter posted on the site, Carrillo says:

Our primary function is to enforce the immigration laws and prevent illegal entry of aliens into the country.

I ended my previous with a question. "I wonder what changed his mind," I said.

Now, I think I have the answer, but more on that in a minute.

After Carrillo's ludicrous comments, Republican presidential candidate, Tom Tancredo, called for Carrillo to be fired.

WND:

U.S. Border Patrol sector chief Carlos X. Carrillo should be removed from his post after telling a town hall meeting in Texas the agency's job "is not to stop illegal immigrants," says Republican presidential candidate Rep. Tom Tancredo.

Tancredo called on David Aguilar, the chief of the U.S, Office of Border Patrol, to remove Carrillo from his leadership position.

"I hope David Aguilar will repudiate Carrillo's statements and remove him from a leadership position in the agency," Tancredo said in a statement released by his office. "Anything less will leave doubts about the integrity of the agency's top management and its commitments to controlling illegal entry into our country."

To the surprise of many, Aguilar defended Carrillo's statements.

Aguilar, however, defended Carrillo and said the comments were taken out of context. He said the Border Patrol's mission "is to protect our country's borders from all threats. Our highest priority is keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering our country."

The problem with Aguilar's defense of Carrillo is that they weren't taken out of context at all, and Carrillo did not say that the Border Patrol's job is to protect our border from all threats. He said:

"I've said it before and I'll say it again. The Border Patrol's job is not to stop illegal immigrants. The Border Patrol's job is not to stop narcotics or contraband or narcotics the Border Patrol's mission is not to stop criminals. The Border Patrol's mission is to stop terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering the country."

Kind of hard to take that out of context, isn't it?

So far, Tancredo's call for Carrillo's job hasn't come to fruition. However, a few days after Tancredo's statements ... Carrillo apologized.

Liberty Post:

A Border Patrol chief yesterday apologized for saying the agency's mission is stopping terrorists, not illegal aliens or drug smugglers, a stance that outraged congressional lawmakers.

"It's painfully obvious to me that I could have done a better job of articulating my talking points," said sector Chief Carlos X. Carrillo, who made the controversial comments last week at a town hall meeting in Laredo, Texas.

The article goes on to describe the outrage of Republican lawmakers at Carrillo's comments.

Carrillo also describes what he "really" said.

"It was a two-hour town hall meeting," Chief Carrillo said. "One of the issues we discussed was illegal immigration. I said the Border Patrol cannot address the causes of illegal immigration. We're not supposed to address it. Our focus is enforcement, our focus is enforcement at the border."

A far cry different than what was reported.

Shortly after Carrillo's apology, there was another big story about Laredo in the news.

The AP did an expose on the drug cartels in Laredo, and how violent they are.

Mexican drug lords locked in a bloody fight for control of a pipeline that runs from Mexico to Dallas and up through middle America have brazenly stationed hit squads and reconnaissance teams in Laredo.

Maybe, just maybe it's not so brazen if the sector chief of the Border Patrol doesn't feel it's in his job description to deal with drug cartels.

Over the past few years, the Mexican Gulf Cartel and its rival Sinaloa Cartel have carried out a terrifying bloodbath in Nuevo Laredo, where the traffickers have a saying: "Plata o plomo" — "Silver or lead." So far, the worst of the violence has been confined to Mexico.

"Our mission is to make sure it doesn't cross over," said Jesse Guillen, a Laredo prosecutor who obtained guilty pleas from Reta and another hitman for the Gulf Cartel earlier this year. "Is it under control? Let's see."

Unlike many other drug-related killings, the Laredo slayings often involve careful planning, explicit orders and surveillance of law enforcement officers, Guillen said. And arrests aren't easy: In most cases, the killers flee back across the border.

Gee, if only we had an agency to prevent them from going back and forth across the border. Too bad sector chief Carrillo has better things to do ... like hunt Osama bin Laden.

Gone also is the grudging respect once accorded U.S. law enforcement. Holdridge said he and his wife have occasionally been followed by suspected cartel members as they drive around town.

You can't respect people you've paid off, can you?

Hitmen were paid $500 a week, according to Laredo police. When a job was done, they could get a bonus of $10,000 and two kilos of cocaine, police said in court documents.

The cartels have studied U.S. law enforcement procedures and know how to stymie officers.

Yeah, with cold, hard cash.

Cartels sometimes send out "suicide loads" — smaller piles of marijuana or cash that traffickers know will get caught by local law enforcement. Such busts tie up officers with paperwork for hours, giving traffickers time to drive a bigger load through unnoticed, Holdridge said.

I left that last part in there to illustrate what may have happened in the Ramos, Compean case.

Is Carrillo on the take? I don't know, but his behavior is dubious at best. Tancredo's calls for him to be removed are correct, and should go without saying. We need sector chiefs that don't double-talk, and contradict themselves. We need tough, smart agents who will not allow Laredo to turn into killing fields. Regardless of if Carrillo is corrupt ... he has shown he can not get the job done in his sector.

Update: Chief Border Patrol Agent Says Illegals Not Border Patrols Problem

Remember the Chief Border Patrol agent of the Laredo Sector saying:

  • "Border Patrol agents don't have the responsibility of apprehending illegal immigrants."
  • "The Border Patrol is not equipped to stop illegal immigrants," Carrillo said, noting that illegal narcotics are also not on the agents priority list.
  • "The Border Patrol mission is not to do any of those things," he emphasized.

He instead said that the BP's job was to stop terrorists, and that they were ready for that mission. Which is odd because if you aren't equipped to stop illegals, and drug cartels, you aren't equipped to stop terrorists.

You can read more about his comments last week here.

Well, I decided to go to the Border Patrol's website, and check out the Laredo Sector's webpage. Guess what I found?

I was doing some checking on the BP website to see if this agent has any links to some of the other suspicious activities that have been happening on the border the past several months.

We have agents in prison for doing their jobs, and blueprints of border stations turning up in public garbage cans, and a few other things that have been suspicious.

To have a chief agent say that the BP isn't responsible for illegals crossing the border seems to point in the conspiracy direction as to why Ramos and Compean were arrested.

So I was poking around the Laredo Sector's webpage when I came across a letter written by the same agent that said last week illegals are not the responsibility of the border patrol.

Here it is:

Pretty damned funny and interesting all at once ... isn't it?

In this letter Chief Patrol Agent Carlos X. Carrillo contradicts everything he said last week at the townhall forum. In the letter, he states:

Our primary function is to enforce the immigration laws and prevent illegal entry of aliens into the country.

Hmmm ... I wonder what changed his mind?

Poll: Should A Police Officer, Who Is Married To An Illegal Alien, Lose His Job?

He's a cop. She's an illegal alien.

Take the poll at the bottom of this post.

That's the choice we in Vegas are asking Sheriff Gilespie to make. Last Sunday we learned that one of our police officers was married to an illegal alien. While our local paper themselves is down the middle on the issue ... there are several reporters that are pro-illegal, and they write plenty of articles on the subject.

Many of those reporters, like Lynnette Curtis, are always looking for the sympathy angle in the immigration debate. You know what I'm talking about ... the whole love angle, and don't split up families, etc.

That appears to be the angle Ms. Curtis took with this article. A police officer puts his name, and his picture, in the local newspaper to expose that he himself is breaking the law that he is sworn to uphold.

LVRJ:

He's a cop.

She's an illegal immigrant.

They're in love.

It's not the plot of a made-for-TV movie. It's real life for Cesar Urena, a local police officer, and his wife, Yuvia, who is living in the United States illegally.

The situation has brought to their young marriage a serious undercurrent of fear and uncertainty.

"I'm scared they're going to come here one day and just take me away," Yuvia, 28, said on Thursday while holding the couple's 1-year-old son, Sebastian.

I'd like to point out that they are fully aware that they are both breaking the law. Otherwise they would not be so afraid of ICE coming to take her away.

Cesar Urena, a 27-year-old U.S. citizen and former Marine who served a tour of duty in Iraq, says he understands why some might find the couple's relationship especially interesting considering his law enforcement work.

"It's tough for me, because I'm in the middle," he said. "I see both sides."

But Cesar wasn't worried about Yuvia's legal status when they met in 2001. Yuvia, a Mexican national, was working at a souvenir kiosk in a local casino at the time. Cesar was visiting Las Vegas from California with some Marine buddies.

The two hit if off and began a long-distance relationship. They fell in love, and Cesar eventually moved to Las Vegas to be with Yuvia full-time.

They married about three years ago, and have a second baby on the way.

Ok, so he lived in California, and she lived hear in Vegas. He visited and hit it off with her, but the relationship didn't develop into the typical one night stand. Instead it became a long distance relationship, and eventually he moved to Vegas to be with her.

He would then become an officer with Metro while having this relationship with an illegal alien. They then got married, had one kid, and have another on the way.

The whole "he was a soldier in Iraq" bit was a cute attempt to arouse sympathy for him breaking the law.

Before we continue I'd like to point something out about Metro's (LVPD) standards for acceptance on the force.

We all know you can't be a cop if you are a felon. Metro, however, takes it one step further. If you commit a misdemeanor crime in another state, and are never convicted of a felony, but that minor crime would have been a felony in Nevada ... you can't join the force. Even though you have no felony conviction on your record ... if it would have been a felony here ... you can't become a cop.

So how did a force with such strict standards miss something like this with the extensive background, and interview, checks they do?

The couple recently decided it was time to get Yuvia's legal status in order. They contacted a local immigration attorney to explore their options.

What they found out was that those options are extremely limited, and could involve them being separated for up to a decade.

Current U.S. immigration law requires that a person make a lawful entry into the United States in order to adjust to legal permanent resident status.

If a person entered the country illegally, that individual would have to leave the country and then come back.

Well, it's nice of them to finally decide to do the right thing.

Current US immigration law states that if you have been in the US illegally for less than 1 year, you face a potential 3 years before you can return. If you've been illegally in the country for over 1 year, you face a potential 10 years before you can return legally. The interesting aspect of this is that if you never enter the US illegally, but are waiting to enter our country the legal, proper way ... you face a 12-15 wait is most cases. Now tell me that illegals aren't cutting in line.

This is where it starts getting really amusing.

But if Yuvia leaves the country, she can be barred from returning for up to 10 years because she lived in the United States illegally, even though she's married to a U.S. citizen.

It's a dilemma many families of mixed immigration status across the United States face: Remain here illegally, or potentially be separated from loved ones for up to a decade in order to get legal status.

For now, the couple has chosen the former. Yuvia has no plans to return to Mexico.

"I might not be able to come back," she said. "I'm not going to be separated from my family for 10 years."

This is the great lie about the immigration debate from the sympathy seekers. THE US CAN NOT SEPARATE FAMILIES FROM ONE ANOTHER BY DEPORTING AN ILLEGAL ALIEN! It can't be done, and is impossible ... period, end of story! The only people that can break up a family and be separated from loved ones are the families themselves.

There is no law, statute, or any other entity that requires the US citizens to stay in the US while the illegal is sent home. If an illegal is deported you can pack up, and move out of the US to keep your family together until you can legally resolve the case.

If a family chooses to split themselves up ... that is their choice, and their choice alone. It is not the fault of the government, and there is no one to blame but themselves. They knew the risks in marrying and having children with an illegal, and they chose to accept that risk. They must be willing to accept the responsibility, and consequences of their decision.

So this family doesn't want to be split up, but they don't have any plans to return to Mexico ... why?

The couple could move together to Mexico until Yuvia gets legal permission to come back to the United States, but it's not an option Cesar is considering.

"I have to stay here," he said. "My job is here. I would be lost in Mexico."

AWWWWWWWWWW! He would be lost ... poor baby. His job may not be here much longer either. That should make his decision a little easier.

He should have thought about all of this before he started breaking the law. Folks, this IS A COP TALKING! He is duty bound to uphold the law yet he breaks it everyday.

This police officer knew the risks of entering into a marriage with an illegal alien, and now he is unwilling to make the situation right because it's too difficult. It's always difficult to do the right thing. If he won't do the right thing now, and uphold the oath he swore to uphold ... how can we trust him as a law enforcement officer?

It doesn't matter what your view on immigration is in this case. Bottom line is that it IS illegal to harbor an illegal alien (which is a fugitive on the run), and many Americans have paid a price for this action in criminal court. You can not have a police officer who perpetually breaks the law to remain on the force.

Sheriff Gilespie has been asked about the situation by AM 840 KXNT. He said he'd look into the matter.

Should A Police Officer Married To An Illegal Alien Lose His Job?
Yes, he is breaking the law.
No, the law is wrong.
He should not lose his job, but should face suspension.

So, It Turns Out The Border Patrol Isn't Supposed To Secure The Border

What would you say if I told you the Border Patrol wasn't supposed to prevent illegals from crossing into the United States?

What if I were to tell you that a Border Patrol agent confirmed that it was not the BP's job to do so?

You'd say I was nuts, right? Well, you'd be dead wrong.

LMT Online:

Border Patrol agents dont have the responsibility of apprehending illegal immigrants, Carlos X. Carrillo, chief patrol agent for the Laredo sector, said at a town hall meeting Wednesday."The Border Patrol is not equipped to stop illegal immigrants," Carrillo said, noting that illegal narcotics are also not on the agents priority list.

"The Border Patrol mission is not to do any of those things," he emphasized.

The Border Patrols mission is to keep the country safe from terrorist and terrorist weapons, he said. Carrillo added that when and if terrorists come into the country, the agents will be ready.

After the support the BP showed Ramos and Compean ... I bet you didn't expect that.

Funny thing is that the BP's mission statement disagrees with this guy.

Whites No Longer Majority In 10% Of Counties ... 1/3 Of Most-Populous Counties...

Does that mean that white people can finally have our equivalents of the NAACP, BET, United Negro College Fund, affirmative action, and the other countless entities out there that benefit everyone except white people? Nah, that would still be racist.

NY Times:

In a further sign of the United States’ growing diversity, nonwhites now make up a majority in almost one-third of the most-populous counties in the country and in nearly one in 10 of all 3,100 counties, according to an analysis of census results to be released today.

The shift reflects the growing dispersal of immigrants and the suburbanization of blacks and Hispanics pursuing jobs generated by whites moving to the fringes of metropolitan areas.

Oh well, it's not like we can lose our jobs or businesses because we don't speak Spanish right? Oh yeah, we can lose work for not speaking Spanish, and this guy did lose his business.

Hispanic Group Targets Talk Radio

Yep, here we go again with the whole "if you don't like illegals then you are a racist" argument. Only this time hispanics are targeting talk radio as the purveyors of hate.

Washington Times:

The nation's largest Hispanic advocacy group says it must come up with a strategy to combat "a wave of hate" its leaders say came from talk radio's efforts to sink the Senate's immigration bill.

"That had an extraordinary impact in the Senate, and as a nation, I don't think we should be comfortable with the fact that the United States Senate responded to what was largely a wave of hate," Cecilia Munoz, the National Council of La Raza's senior vice president for research, advocacy and legislation.

For those of you new to the debate ... La Raza is a hate group themselves. They hate white people, black people, and asian people. Some chapters have even taken issue with non-Mexican hispanics.

Anytime you have a hate group playing the victim card it's hilarious.

"I think we have to shine a light on it," Ms. Munoz said. "At the end of the day, we believe people need to take sides, that you can't stand on the sidelines, especially if part of what is motivating the actions of the United States Congress is not really about the public-policy debate, but is about their discomfort with Latinos."

Ms. Munoz is retarded.

She speaks about everyone needing to take sides, but if you take a side that contradicts her own ... you are a racist. Instead of allowing Americans to take sides on the issue, and debate policy ... Ms. Munoz will simply proclaim anyone who disagrees with her as hating latinos.

This latest outburst was in regards to the Senate immigration bill that the vast majority of the nation opposed. The Senate was right to uphold the will of the people, and talk radio had little to do with it. Americans weren't upset about latinos ... they were upset at the policy of the bill.

Americans didn't like giving amnesty to those who've broken the law, they didn't like that most illegals were not going to pay the fine, they didn't like the increase in well-trained professionals from other countries coming to do the jobs that Americans most definitely want to do, and they didn't like the fact that this has been done before with absolutely no success.

Americans did like some of the provisions in the bill that dealt with security, but the bill also reduced the size of the fence that is supposed to be under construction right now. That same fence would have been reduced by 400 miles under the Senate's bill. Citizens were upset about all of these things and more, and all of that had to do with the policy debate that Ms. Munoz says Americans are neglecting because of their discomfort with latinos.

Nice try Ms. Munoz, but this debate is all about policy. It has nothing to do with race, and if you'd been monitoring the outrage that Americans have over requiring Chinese on election ballots, you'd know that.

BONUS:

Obama also called those opposed to the immigration bill racist, and vowed to make amnesty happen.

Federal Plans For Border Crossing Station Found In Dumpster

Not just any dumpster ... a news dumpster.

The 189 page document was prepared for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. General Services Administration.

There's nothing quite like the bad guys getting their hands on government blueprints is there?

KXAN:

Sensitive government documents turned up in KXAN Austin News' Dumpster in Central Austin.

Included in the bound 189-page document were preliminary plans for the expansion of a U.S.-Mexico border crossing station in El Paso.

The document was clearly marked "Homeland Security", and you may have already guessed ... the government has no comment.

Massive Forgery Scam Discovered To Allow More Illegals To Qualify For Amnesty

Even the illegals are calling this amnesty!

This was worthy of its own post rather than an addition to today's previous post on the Democrats defeating Sen. Webb's amendment to only grant amnesty to illegals who've been in the US for 4 years or more.

This proved that illegals would pore across the border in order to qualify for amnesty, and a forgery operation has been caught promising to provide proof that illegals were here in time to qualify.

Washington Times:

The head of a Mexican forgery ring was convinced he could make phony documents that illegal aliens could use to indicate fraudulently that they were eligible for a new amnesty, says a government affidavit recounting wiretapped phone calls the man made.

Julio Leija-Sanchez, who ran a $3 million-a-year forgery operation before he was arrested in April, was expecting Congress to pass a legalization program, which he called "amnesty," and said he could forge documents to fool the U.S. government into believing illegal aliens were in the country in time to qualify for amnesty, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent said in the affidavit.

In recounting a wiretapped telephone conversation, ICE agent Jason E. Medica said he heard Mr. Leija-Sanchez tell an associate the forgery ring could "fix his papers" to meet the requirements of a legalization program such as the bill the Senate is debating today.

Did you see that? Wiretapping allowed the US to discover this operation. How convenient that this information is released the day that the White House gets subpoenaed by the Senate for wiretapping.

Democrats Defeat Amendment To Require Illegals To Return Home Temporarily

I discussed this last night on my program, and pointed out how foolish the Republicans were who voted to revive debate on this bill. They have been saying that they only voted to debate the bill so they could introduce amendments to make it better, but that doesn't hold water.

Bottom line is ... Republicans aren't powerful enough to accomplish any meaningful change in the immigration bill. That was proven the last time around when Democrats defeated an amendment that would have required illegals that have been involved in criminal activity in this country to be deported. If you couldn't pass that ... you can't pass anything.

Today, I was proven right.

An amendment that would have required illegals to leave the US temporarily, and return via official channels was shot down.

AP:

The Senate on Wednesday killed a Republican proposal to require all adult illegal immigrants to return home temporarily in order to qualify for permanent lawful status in this country.

Also defeated was a Democratic bid to restrict legal status to those who have been in the United States for four years.

The vote was 53-45 to table an amendment by Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, to require that illegal immigrants go home within two years in order to qualify for a renewable Z visa to live and work lawfully in the United States.

The bill, which could grant lawful status to as many as 12 million illegal immigrants, requires only heads of household seeking permanent legal residency to return home to apply for green cards.

Senators also voted 79-18 to kill a proposal by Democratic Sen. Jim Webb, D-Va., that would have allowed only those who had been in the country for at least four years to gain lawful status. The bill would make anyone here by Jan. 1, 2007 eligible for legalization.

The defeat of Sen. Webb's amendment is proof positive that we were right in telling you that the new illegals will be granted amnesty.

Immigration Bill Moves Forward

Many were skeptical that this bill would have success today ... I wasn't one of them. I knew that this bill would move forward in the Senate, and that the battle in the House would be where we will make our stand.

The Hill:

The comprehensive immigration reform bill survived a crucial procedural vote Tuesday and took a large step toward Senate passage.

GOP opponents of the measure had claimed that support for the bill was eroding and had hoped that enough former supporters would change their minds to get to the necessary 41 votes to stop the legislation. However, the tenuous coalition that has so far held the compromise together survived its most serious test yet.

However, several amendments remain, both from conservatives and liberals, that could prevent Senate passage.

Take a gander at what Ted Kennedy had to say about the bill, and the citizens of this country.

AP:

"We did the right thing today because we know the American people sent us here to act on our most urgent problems. We know they will not stand for small political factions getting in the way," Kennedy said in a statement following the vote.

The question is: Is he delusional, or has he been drinking?

There hasn't been a poll yet that shows the American people support this bill, and I wouldn't call the majority of American citizens a "small political faction" Teddy.

Several of the Republican amendments slated for upcoming Senate votes would make the bill tougher on unlawful immigrants, while those by Democrats would make it easier on those seeking to immigrate legally based solely on family ties.

We all know what happened the last time Republicans introduced amendments to prevent criminals from getting amnesty.

Here's a list of the amendments via Michelle:

Democrat Amendments

Dodd-Menendez S.A. 1199: would increase the annual cap on green cards for parents and extend the parent visitor visa.

Webb S.A. 1313: Community ties for [amnesty]

Baucus-Tester S.A. 1236: would strike all reference[s] to REAL ID.

Menendez-Obama-Feingold S.A. 1317: increases family points in merit system

Brown S.A. 1340: requires that before employers can be approved to employ Y-1 workers, they must have listed the specific job opportunity with the state employment service agency.

McCaskill S.A. 1468: increases ban on federal contracts, grants or cooperative agreements to employers who are repeat violators of hiring immigrants who are not authorized to work

Levin-Brownback S.A.1486: gives access to Iraqis to apply for refugee status under existing U.S. law.
Leahy S.A. 1386: protect scholars who have been persecuted in their home countries on account of their beliefs, scholarship, or identity.

Schumer: provides for tamper-proof biometric social security cards

Boxer S.A. 1198: reduces Y visa cap by number of Y workers who overstay

Republican Amendments

Domenici S.A. 1335/1258: increases Federal judgeships
Ensign S.A. 1490: redetermines work history for current beneficiaries of social security depending on their citizenship status

Graham S.A. 1465: enforcement. Still being drafted.

Grassley-Baucus-Obama S.A. 1441: strikes and replaces Title III on employer enforcement

Hutchinson S.A. 1440: changes the “touchback” requirement from the time of applying for adjustment of status, as it currently stands in the Senate proposed bill, to the time of applying for the Z visa. Increases the number of individuals required to touchback

Thune S.A. 1174: prevents [illegal aliens] from [being granted amnesty] until all triggers have been met.

Chambliss S.A. 1318: Totalization agreements

Isakson S.A. 1282: Preemption/Home Depot

Graham: Criminal penalties/mandatory minimums for overstays

Illegal Aliens Suing Factory After Immigration Raid

It's a couple of days old, but it's still a worthy blog post.

361 illegals feel that it is their right to get the overtime pay they were denied because they were taken into custody during an immigration raid, and so they are suing.

Reuters:

Workers including 361 illegal immigrants were cheated of hundreds of thousands of dollars in overtime pay at a factory at the center of a high-profile raid in Massachusetts, according to a lawsuit filed on Tuesday.

Lawyers are watching this one very closely for precedent. Can you imagine the lawsuits that lawyers will file on behalf of criminals who've been taken into custody after committing a crime? Will they all be able to recoup their lost wages?

The illegals were also upset about a few other things as well. Apparently the company would deduct 15-30 minutes of pay from a worker who was at least 1 minute late to work. Sounds like a nasty thing to do, but it's the fault of the illegals not the company. If you are willing to violate employment laws ... you must be prepared to have employment laws violated when it pertains to you. Especially when the laws never legally applied to you anyway.

Illegal Alien Advocates Rally For Hillary's Support

I don't really know what more they want her to do. Hillary already appointed the former head of La Raza to her campaign staff. I guess advocates plan to hold actions outside the offices of Sens. Charles Schumer and Hillary Clinton.

Staten Island Advance:

New York City immigrants and advocates plan to hold actions outside the Manhattan offices of Sens. Charles Schumer and Hillary Clinton.

Frustrated over what the rally sponsors call the senators' lack of active leadership in the immigration debate so far, participants will urge their representatives to become more vocal over the next two weeks.

They want to get the Senate's support in order to make sure pro-amnesty legislation goes through.
