ACLU Violates Civil Rights Of Death Row Inmate

That would be his desire for the execution to go forward.

You should know about the debate on executions going on right now, and whether lethal injection is "cruel and unusual" punishment. If you aren't aware ... it's time to read up.

Start with the José Ernesto Medellín case, and then read the Heliberto Chi case.

Essentially what we have is 51 foreigners , that have been convicted and sentenced to death in the US, may not have their sentences carried out because of the 1963 Vienna Convention. President Bush is also throwing his weight around in the matter, and Texas seems to be standing alone in fighting for their right to execute convicted criminals.

The Vienna Convention states that people arrested abroad should have access to their home country's consular officials. Many of the foreigners (illegals) are arguing that they were not granted access to their country's consular officials. Keep in mind that many have confessed to their crimes of rape and murder.

As a result of these cases we have the ACLU, and other groups opposed to the death penalty, challenging the Constitutionality of lethal injections. Many executions across the country have been halted until the U.S. Supreme Court reviews the constitutionality of lethal injections.

Obviously we have several problems with the current situation. State's rights are being violated, this is not a Constitutional issue, and we have international law infringing upon American sovereignty.

The Vienna Convention has no power over internal US affairs, and foreign nationals are NOT permitted under US law access to their consular officials. The US Supreme Court ruled on this very matter last year.

Stating that American law outweighs an international treaty, the Supreme Court said Wednesday that foreign criminals held in state prisons did not have a right to reopen their cases if their rights under the Vienna Convention had been violated.

The 6-3 ruling spares state prison officials a major headache. If the high court had ruled the other way, thousands of state inmates who were not U.S. citizens could have sought to have their convictions reversed.

The international treaty, drafted in 1963, seeks to protect foreigners, including Americans traveling or living abroad. It requires that officials notify the home-country consulate when a foreigner is arrested or held for "pending trial."

Despite its clear terms, police and prosecutors in the United States have failed to notify foreign criminal suspects that they have a right to the help of their nation's consulate.

Two years ago, the International Court of Justice, also known as the World Court, took up an appeal from the governments of Mexico and Germany. The court, based in The Hague, ruled that the treaty gave individuals a right to reopen their cases if they did not get the proper notification.

But the Supreme Court said Wednesday that it was not bound to follow that ruling.

As you can see ... the Supreme Court has already ruled on this issue, and they ruled that US law trumps an international treaty ... as it should.

Why this case is being reheard is beyond me, but Phyllis Schlafly thinks it has something to do with the Law of the Sea Treaty.

Now for the ACLU (NV chapter) violating the rights of a death row inmate.

William Castillo was sentenced to death in 1996 for bludgeoning to death an 84 year old retired teacher as she slept. He then robbed her house, left, returned, and burned it down. He would later confess to the murder, and was sentenced to die this month by lethal injection. We waived his right to appeals, and accepted his fate. Castillo requested that the ACLU and the Nevada Coalition Against the Death Penalty not stop his execution, but his request was ignored for pure ideology.

Nancy Hart of the Nevada Coalition Against the Death Penalty and Richard Siegel of the American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada said the Pardons Board has the authority to halt Castillo's lethal injection pending a U.S. Supreme Court review of such injections.

Nevada uses the injection method being reviewed by the court, Hart and Siegel wrote, adding that executing Castillo might put the state "in the untenable position of having to explain why it felt compelled to rush an execution before the Supreme Court was able to rule."

"The state of Nevada should not be executing any of its prisoners, 'voluntary' or not, while the U.S. Supreme Court is deciding whether the method violates the Constitution," they wrote.

As you can see, they didn't give a damn about what Castillo wanted. It's even more laughable that the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty asked people to "write to Gov. Jim Gibbons on behalf of William Castillo!" Even though he opposes their stance on capital punishment.

Their assertion that NV uses the same method under review by the US Supreme Court is false. Nevada uses double the formulation strength being challenged in the Supreme Court.

State Corrections Director Howard Skolnik said that Castillo will get double doses of the three drugs normally used in executions. He said that the change ensures that Castillo should "go out instantly" and not experience "any kind of discomfort."

Skolnik also said the double dose makes the Nevada method different than the Kentucky method of lethal injections, which is the subject of the U.S. Supreme Court review.

That means that if the US Supreme Court rules that the Kentucky method of lethal injections is unconstitutional ... it would not apply to Nevada anyway. The Supreme Court has not issued a halt to all executions in the US anyway, and therefore Nevada would not have to "explain why it felt compelled to rush an execution."

Their arguments are insensitive and false, but they worked.

Convicted killer William Castillo was 90 minutes away from death by lethal injection Monday night when the Nevada Supreme Court stepped in and issued a stay to allow more time to consider legal issues raised by the ACLU of Nevada.

Castillo had his final meal, and was sedated already when the order came down. Also, two of the victim's family members had come to town to witness the execution. I doubt the ACLU will reimburse them for the time and cost of their trip.

Something else had already taken place as well. Castillo's mom had said her final goodbye to her son ... only to be called later that he was not executed. You'd think Castillo and his mom would be relieved, right? Well, you'd be wrong.

News 3's Jesse Corona spoke exclusively to Castillo's family and found they are not happy about the execution being halted.

His family says he had already refused any more legal action on his behalf and that he was ready and willing to die.

"Not that I want my son to die, but I had to accept my son's decision," said Castillo's mother.

Mrs. Castillo says her son told her that he would refuse any more appeals filed on his behalf to stop his execution two months ago. She says it was the most difficult thing she's ever had to do but her son told her he wanted to take responsibility for his actions and die like a man, so she agreed to respect his wishes.

"I had to accept this, and these people come along and yank that from us?" she said.

Now I don't have sympathy for Castillo, but I do for his mother. It is impossible to imagine what she is going through. Not only does she discover that her son is a monster, but she had to come to terms with his death. Now she has to get a lawyer and fight for her son's right to be executed.

"When I hung up that phone, my son died. According to the state he was going to die 8:30 but my son died at 7 when I said goodbye," she said.

Castillo had already ate his last meal and taken the pre-execution sedative and was ready to die.

"His first words were, mom this ain't right. Get a lawyer, get someone out there to help us that was not right they had no business being here."

On top of all that ... she says that the ACLU is far more cruel than the methods they are arguing against.

Mrs. Castillo says what the ACLU did to her family was itself cruel and unusual.

She's right, and I hope she sues the hell out of the ACLU.

Mrs. Castillo, like me, is convinced the ACLU's move was a publicity stunt.

Mrs. Castillo also said that she thinks the last minute stay of execution by the ACLU was really a publicity move for the organization, and not about the issues they say it was about. She says if the ACLU's motivations were pure, they would have requested a hearing last week.

Again, she is right. Requesting a hearing the week before would have saved a lot of grief for the Castillo family, and the victim's family. Instead of requesting that hearing, however, the ACLU was polluting every news agency with their rhetoric on the situation.

The ACLU told News 3 Thursday that they have a lot of sympathy for everyone affected by what happened, but they say the issue was not about any one particular individual on death row, but instead was about the constitution.

Oh really?

So Castillo's desire to die after being convicted, and sentenced to death, was about the Constitution? Even though the Constitution gives states the right to enforce capital punishment, and even though the method of execution being used for Castillo is not the method being constitutionally challenged in the Supreme Court? Give me a break!

This is further illustration of the ACLU's hypocrisy. Why, you ask. Because the ACLU has long fought for the right to die, and they've used constitutional arguments to support their efforts.

"Each of us should have the right to die in a humane and dignified manner. The exercise of this right is as central to personal autonomy and bodily integrity as rights safeguarded by this Court's decisions relating to marriage, family relationships, procreation, contraception, child rearing and the refusal or termination of life-saving medical treatment," said Steven R. Shapiro, the ACLU's National Legal Director.

That was in 1997.

  • In 2001 the ACLU supported the right of Robert Wendland's wife to take him off of life support.
  • 2005 showed another case when the ACLU supported the right to die for Harold Folley in New Mexico.

You get the point ... I don't need to go on.

So why is it that the ACLU supports the right to die for some, but not those who were sentenced to death? The answer ... their political agenda. The ACLU has an agenda to get rid of the death penalty, and in their list of priorities that agenda is more important than the right to die or state's rights.

Thus, the American Civil Liberties Union violated the civil liberties of one William Castillo even though they swear they exist only to uphold such civil liberties.

This post is sticky ... scroll down for new posts.

I finally decided to just go for it, and open a shop at Cafe Press. I'm starting with the free shops until I get things rolling with my designs. So I have a few shops, and each one is dedicated to a specific design. I've wanted to make my own clothes for a while now, and I finally have an excuse to go through with it.

I figured I would start small, and only offer a couple of inexpensive (yet funny) items. Right now there is three shops total. Below you will see only one example of the merchandise available with the design shown. Below each item is a link to the shop that features that design on a variety of products. I hope you enjoy them, and feel free to make requests.

Visit the "This WMD" shop.

Visit the "Salad Is Murder" shop.

Visit the "Cow Fart" shop.

Some of the designs are better on light or dark backgrounds. If you would like a design on a black shirt, but it is designed for a white shirt, let me know. I will be happy to change the design, and put it on the product color of your choice.

NAACP Says Halloween Display Is Racist, Family Forced To Remove It

Warning: The following post will contain some strong language not usually present in my writing, but I am super pissed about this. I have removed letters of certain words, but felt it was appropriate to warn those of you who are regular readers. I'm usually not this personal or confrontational, but given the past couple of weeks with similar stories an aggressive response was warranted.

Update: I have added a poll at the top right of this site. Let us what you think of the display. Is it racist, or not?

Photo Courtesy Of The Daily Record

So much for the NAACP actually becoming a respectable organization again. I had hope for a while there because they had been settling down a bit. The NAACP "seemed" to be getting away from the Jackson/Sharpton ideology. Oh well, it looks like they are back in full force.

The NAACP, along with a couple of oversensitive neighbors, blew a simple Halloween decoration waaaay out of proportion.

The Star Ledger:

Chesla Flood couldn't believe her eyes. A hangman's noose circled the neck of a black-hooded, jeans-clad dummy suspended from the chimney of a house in Madison.

Flood called her mother, Millie Hazlewood, who reported the Halloween display to police. She wasn't the only one. Police went to the property at least three times starting Sunday, and even the mayor asked the homeowners to take down the figure.

The police took time out of their day to harass a family for Halloween decorations, multiple times? The mayor even requested the family take down the decoration? What in the hell is this world coming to that you can't put a commonly used Halloween display up? I can't count how many times I've seen a hangman's noose as part of Halloween decorations, haunted houses, and even my own decorations. These people are acting like this is the first time this has been done. When, in fact, it's somewhat of a traditional display.

So is this the first time this family has used the noose?

D.J. Maines, the 27-year-old son of Cheryl and David Maines, has bedecked the house for seven Halloweens using $5,000 worth of decorations he has collected. He has used the hanging dummy each year.

Nope. He's used the display for 7 YEARS with no incident! Why no incident? Because it's a common display used by thousands of homes across the US!

Finally, the pressure got the family, and they removed the display because they feared for their safety.

At 8 last night, the family relented, saying they feared for their safety.

"It's no more like freedom of speech anymore," Cheryl Maines said. "My son had to take this down because these people have blown this thing out of proportion."

Hell, it doesn't even really have to do with freedom of speech because it is a Halloween decoration!

Here is what the mayor (a white guy) had to say:

Before the figure was removed yesterday, Madison Mayor Ellwood "Woody" Kerkeslager said "the appearance and the suggestion (of racism) is there, and it's inappropriate."

What? How? They didn't show a black person being hung. They showed a person in a black hood being hung. When we used to hang people in this country guess what we did? We put a black hood over their heads!

Now listen to how everyone is trying to tie this story in with other noose stories in the news lately in an effort to paint this family as racist.

At least four recent noose displays -- one each in Jena, La., and Philadelphia and two in New York City -- are drawing renewed attention to a potent symbol of racism, lynchings and the era of Jim Crow segregation.

Unlike those incidents, the Madison figure was part of a Halloween display, and for two days, homeowners Cheryl and David Maines, the borough's superintendent of public works, refused to budge. They said they had done nothing wrong.

ARE YOU F___ING SERIOUS!?

Credit goes to the author for pointing out the obvious ... this was a decoration, at a home, for Halloween. To draw correlations to Jena, La. is insane at best.

Here's where the NAACP jump in, and make complete fools of themselves.

Meanwhile, the state chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People denounced the display as offensive, racist and insensitive.

"I think there are many people who understand the significance of a noose as it relates to the history of African-Americans," said James Harris, president of the NAACP's state chapter. "We thought we lived beyond the era when people felt it was okay to have that type of display."

"As it relates to the history of African-Americans?" F__K YOU!

There is another population that has a history with the noose James ... COWBOYS! And most cowboys were what? White!

Why don't we just make the argument that the display was inappropriate because it might offend criminals. After all, we used to hang criminals exactly as the display is shown ... black hood and all.

"We thought we lived beyond the era when people felt it was okay to have that type of display?" What era are you talking about James? The era when we used to hang people as capital punishment? We HAVE lived beyond that era James. That's why your argument makes no damned sense! We DON'T hang people anymore ... white, black or any other race for that matter. Hence, it was only a Halloween decoration!

The only people who haven't lived past that era is you, James. You and your supporters want old feelings from another time to surface. That way you can foment hate, prove the NAACP is still needed and maybe make a quick buck while you're at it.

To top it all off ... not only are you still living in the past, but you are projecting a falsehood upon this family. You keep talking about racism when there was no part of this display that could be construed as racist by any sane, logical person. So are you fomenting hate James, or are you just lacking sanity and logic?

The family has sworn off holiday decorations for good because of this fiasco. I assume that was the goal all along as there is a concerted effort to remove holiday displays in this country.

Last night, the Maines family said they would be replacing their Halloween display and erecting a sign reading: "Thanks to the assistance of Millie Hazlewood and her friends, Halloween and Christmas decorations will no longer be celebrated here."

This is very sad.

Authorities also said that the display was not illegal, and couldn't be ordered down. If that is the case ... then why did the police harass this family on three separate occasions? I hope the family sues the department for harassment, and I hope they sue the people who complained and the NAACP for violating their civil rights. The mayor should also be a target for lawsuit for his interference.

Read the rest of the article and you'll see a bunch of people who lived through the horrific time where lynching was common, and were offended by the display. The south is featured prominently in the article, but this is taking place in New Jersey so don't be fooled.

The Maines family also responded to those who have a history with lynching.

"Don't bring your ancestors into this -- it's something that happened; you've got to get beyond it or you're going to make yourself sick," she said.

She is right. To bring up history having nothing to do with her or her decorations in an effort to demonize her family is completely uncalled for.

Had the display featured a black person being lynched, I would have supported it being taken down. However, there was no racial undertones at all in the display. This was just another excuse by racists themselves to attack white people.

Here is another picture of the display for you to decide yourself.

Harry Reid Says Mormons Being Led Down Wrong Path By LDS Leaders

No doubt you haven't heard about Harry Reid attacking Christians last week because the media doesn't dare smear him. However, it is even more unlikely that you've heard about Reid smearing his own church leadership for being right-wingers.

Reid said people often question how he can be a Democrat and a Mormon, but called the social responsibility Democrats espouse a good fit with the beliefs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He questioned the guidance of some LDS Church leaders, though.

In remarks to the media following his address, Reid said that, "In the past years we've had some very prominent members of the church, like Ezra Taft Benson, who are really right-wing people.

"Members of the church are obedient and followers in the true sense of the word, but these people have taken members of the church down the path that is the wrong path," he said.

Then there is this little tidbit from the AP:

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Mormons were ill-served by the conservative politics of past church leaders.

Then after insulting past LDS leadership for being to conservative ... Reid politely tells LDS members that their values are all screwed up.

He said Mormons must recognize there are more important issues than abortion and gay marriage. Reid opposes abortion.

"We have a country that needs to do something about health care. Global warming is here. We have a president who doesn't know how to pronounce the words," Reid said, referring to President Bush.

Harry, ever the hypocrite, thinks it is the "wrong path" for LDS leadership to uphold their traditional conservative beliefs, but he deems it ok to alter those beliefs to better coincide with the liberal agenda? For crying out loud ... he told LDS members they should be more concerned with global warming than abortion!

When I spoke of this last night on my show, I received several calls from outraged LDS members who explained how the church goes out of its way to not endorse any candidate. Something that was stated very clearly in the RJ's article.

The church does not endorse, promote or oppose political parties, candidates or platforms. Spokeswoman Kim Farah said church officials would not comment on Reid's remarks.

To attack other faiths is bad enough, but to attack your own.

So You Want To Use Dope, But Not Get Arrested ... Go To San Fransisco!

That's right everybody. San Fransisco has finally decided to move forward with a very controversial plan that will allow intravenous drug users to shoot up without fear of arrest.

Why would they do such a thing you ask. Well, to prevent overdoses of course.

SF Gate:

On Thursday, an all-day symposium - co-hosted by the city Department of Public Health - will examine the idea of creating safe injection centers where users could bring their drugs, shoot up and leave, without fear of arrest.

The idea is to decrease overdoses, keep dirty needles off the street, and cut the risk of spreading HIV and hepatitis C. Those are all good things. It is the idea of providing addicts with their own injection clinic that riles people up.

Naturally, people are riled up over something like this (which has been in the works for years now). The article even quotes one reader as saying:

"What's next? Giving them the drugs, too?"

The answer to that is yes. Now some of you might think I'm going a little too far by saying that, but I want you to use some logic here.

If we are willing to allow dopers to shoot up in an effort to prevent overdoses, remove needles from the street, stop hepatitis and HIV ... surely we will be willing to provide said dope to prevent all of the other crimes involved in buying the dope on the street. Hell, it may even become a proposed strategy for the drug war (yes I know some people have already endorsed this tactic).

Seriously, think about it. The negative impact, and outright danger, to the individual as well as society is far worse if the drugs are purchased on the street instead of being supplied.

11 Year Olds To Get The Pill, At School, Without Parent's Permission

This is almost as bad as requiring kids to attend an assembly, and forcing them to sign a contract that they won't tell their parents about it.

Portland Press Herald:

Students who have parental permission to be treated at King Middle School's health center would be able to get birth control prescriptions under a proposal that the Portland School Committee will consider Wednesday.

Although students must have written parental permission to be treated at Portland's school-based health centers, state law allows them to seek confidential health care and to decide whether to inform their parents about the services they receive.

I'm sure many of you are as confused about this "health center" at schools as I am. We don't have that here in Nevada, or anywhere else I've attended school. It's not quite the school nurse, but more like a quick care medical facility.

The city's Division of Public Health, which made the birth- control proposal, operates seven health centers in Portland Public Schools in an effort to increase access to physical, dental and mental health care.

They are located at Portland High School, Deering High School, Casco Bay High School, King Middle School, West School special education program, and two elementary schools -- Reiche Community School and East End Community School.

The first centers opened in the high schools more than a decade ago, Belanger said.

There are 27 school-based health centers in Maine, 20 of which are funded and overseen by the state, including those in Portland, Birkhimer said.

There are more than 1,700 school-connected health centers in the United States.

So while many schools around the country don't even allow aspirin, this one writes prescriptions in between your annual physical, teeth cleaning, and mental health evaluation. I am interested to see the data on the prescriptions recommended for ADD in these "health centers" as compared to schools without them.

Did Pope John Paul II Go To Hell?

I'm not Catholic, but I seriously doubt that is possible given the person he was. He and I didn't agree often, but he wasn't an evil man by any means.

So why then would a representative of the Vatican News Service say this is the Pope?

Daily Mail:

This fiery figure is being hailed as Pope John Paul II making an appearance beyond the grave.

The image, said by believers to show the Holy Father with his right hand raised in blessing, was spotted during a ceremony in Poland to mark the second anniversary of his death.

Details appeared on the Vatican News Service, a TV station in Rome which specializes in religious news broadcasts.

Ok, so a couple "believers" think the fire looks like Pope John Paul II. Usually, the church is skeptical of these sorts of things ... right?

Service director Jarek Cielecki, a Polish priest and close friend of John Paul II, travelled to Poland after hearing an onlooker had photographed the image.

Father Cielecki said he was convinced the picture showed the former pontiff.

"You can see the image of a person in the flames and I think it is the servant of God, Pope John Paul II," he said.

Uh huh? The FLAMES look like the servant of GOD. Here's the picture being used for comparison.

Now side by side.

Alright, I'm willing to say that there is some similarities between the two images. The fire does look like a man in a robe. I'm just not buying the whole "he's giving a blessing thing."

You'll have to forgive me here, but I just don't see how it could possibly be considered a positive to see the likeness of a future saint engulfed in flames. This doesn't give me the impression that he was God's servant ... if you know what I mean.

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a resignation in the near future.

Muslims Order Christians To Make Peace

This is too rich.

This Is London:

Prominent Muslim scholars are warning that the "survival of the world" is at stake if Muslims and Christians do not make peace with each other.

In an unprecedented open letter signed by 138 leading Muslim scholars from every sect of Islam, the Muslims plead with Christian leaders "to come together with us on the common essentials of our two religions."

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, and Pope Benedict are believed to have been sent copies of the document which calls for greater understanding between the two faiths.

They even try to say they aren't against Christians, but Christians must not make war against Muslims.

The Muslim scholars state: "As Muslims, we say to Christians that we are not against them and that Islam is not against them - so long as they do not wage war against Muslims on account of their religion, oppress them and drive them out of their homes."

While bringing the two religions together is a lofty goal, the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought is clearly delusional.

Christians won't make war with Muslims as soon as Muslims stop using terrorism with homicide bombers to reestablish the Caliphate. Christian nations have only made war with Muslim nations after being attacked, and Christians have not made war with Islam in modern times. Islam in large, however, has made war with all infidels.

So, to the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought I say this: "As Christians, we say to Muslims that we are not against them and that Christianity is not against them - so long as they do not wage war against Christians on account of their religion, use homicide bombers and attack innocent civilians without provocation.

The Muslim community must not be silent on the issue of global terrorism perpetuated by Islamists anymore. When Muslims show Christians and the world that they, in fact, reject the terrorism, murder, and oppressive actions of Islamic radicals, and when Muslims join Christians and the world in combating such activities ... there will be peace."

American Goods In High Demand Around The World

I remember in high school talking with one of my teachers, who taught in Japan for a year, about the demand of American goods there. He said they were in high demand, but American companies often would not produce products designed specifically for the Japanese population ... most notably cars. So it wasn't that no one wanted American goods, it was that American companies were unwilling to invest in infrastructure to alter their products to be more accepted in foreign countries.

Looks like we are closing that culture gap.

AP:

The U.S. trade deficit fell to the lowest level in seven months, helped by record-high sales of American products. The deficit with China declined as imports edged down slightly following a string of high-profile recalls.

The Commerce Department reported Thursday that the deficit declined to $57.6 billion in August, down 2.4 percent from the July imbalance. It was lowest gap between exports and imports since January and a much better showing than had been expected.

The improvement reflected a 0.4 percent rise in exports, which climbed to a record $138.3 billion. Sales of farm products including wheat, soybeans and corn, and exports of industrial products such as chemicals and steel both hit record levels.

Imports actually dropped by 0.4 percent to $195.9 billion, reflecting lower shipments of foreign cars and furniture, which offset a big increase in the foreign oil bill, which rose to the highest level in a year.

As an added bonus ... there was some improvement in unemployment as well.

In other economic news, the Labor Department said that the number of newly laid off workers filing claims for unemployment benefits fell by 12,000 last week to 308,000. That was a better showing than had been expected.

China is also feeling the brunt of putting lead in everything they manufacture.

The politically sensitive deficit with China fell by 5.3 percent to $22.5 billion. U.S. exports were up, led by increased sales of aircraft and soybeans, while imports slipped a slight 0.7 percent. The decline in imports occurred after a series of recalls of tainted products from toys with lead paint to toothpaste and unsafe tires.

However, the small drop came in such areas as computers and furniture, where there have not been highly publicized recalls. Imports of toys from China actually rose as American retailers stocked their shelves for Christmas.

ABC News Helped Osama Escape Capture

No, it is not a joke or a lie. Once again, a news outlet here in the US has exposed a classified operation to the enemy that has prevented us from capturing or killing key enemy figures ... including Osama bin Laden.

From now on when someone raises the question of why we haven't been able to get bin Laden after all of these years ... you respond by saying that the NY Times and ABC News are the ones responsible.

NY Sun:

Al Qaeda's Internet communications system has suddenly gone dark to American intelligence after the leak of Osama bin Laden's September 11 speech inadvertently disclosed the fact that we had penetrated the enemy's system.

The intelligence blunder started with what appeared at the time as an American intelligence victory, namely that the federal government had intercepted, a full four days before it was to be aired, a video of Osama bin Laden's first appearance in three years in a video address marking the sixth anniversary of the attacks of September 11, 2001. On the morning of September 7, the Web site of ABC News posted excerpts from the speech.

But the disclosure from ABC and later other news organizations tipped off Qaeda's internal security division that the organization's Internet communications system, known among American intelligence analysts as Obelisk, was compromised. This network of Web sites serves not only as the distribution system for the videos produced by Al Qaeda's production company, As-Sahab, but also as the equivalent of a corporate intranet, dealing with such mundane matters as expense reporting and clerical memos to mid- and lower-level Qaeda operatives throughout the world.

The article then explains how AQ hacks legitimate websites, without the knowledge of site's owners, in order to communicate with each other.

One intelligence officer who requested anonymity said in an interview last week that the intelligence community watched in real time the shutdown of the Obelisk system. America's Obelisk watchers even saw the order to shut down the system delivered from Qaeda's internal security to a team of technical workers in Malaysia. That was the last internal message America's intelligence community saw. "We saw the whole thing shut down because of this leak," the official said. "We lost an important keyhole into the enemy."

Government agencies are now denying that they were responsible for the leak, but it is impossible to speak on behalf of all of their employees.

Bottom line is that the evidence shows the leak came from a government employee after they were told it was classified ... we don't know who yet. After they leaked the video and transcript to ABC News ... ABC should have withheld the information until after it was aired.

These news organizations must be required to make a choice between the welfare of this nation and their "scoop." So far, the nation comes second. The US government had better start reimplementing some of the internal security measures we had in place during the Cold War, or senseless leaks will continue so long as their is money and/or a political objective to be reached.

FINALLY, Someone Covers Why The Decline In Violence In Iraq Is Not News

H/T Hotair for the vid

Now it's time to go to work ripping these two idiot ladies to pieces.

Kurtz made it a point to tell you how major papers buried the news that I told you a week ago. He went on by giving the numbers of decline in Iraq deaths, and playing a clip from Gibson's program. Gibson was the lone exception in making the decline in Iraq deaths a lead story. Gibson reported that it was the fourth straight month that US deaths declined, and that Iraqi civilian deaths dropped by 50%.

Enter guest Robin Wright who proceeded to say that the news of the declines in deaths should NOT have been front page news. She went on to talk about an "enormous dispute" in how casualties are counted, and that we were at the beginning of a trend that we weren't sure was a trend yet.

She then talks about the military looking for irreversible momentum ... which would be after two months. She says that we haven't reached that time frame yet, but keep in mind that this was the fourth consecutive month of decline in troop deaths. That's a full 100% longer than she was looking for.

Barbara Star then weighs in on the issue by saying that "we don't know if it's a trend." She also said that it was not "enduring progress", but that it was a positive step. Kurtz then interrupted and said that if the numbers showed US and Iraqi casualties going up, it would have been front page news. Star agreed with him on that, and said that by "any definition, that is news." So why is it that by any definition an increase in casualties is news, but not a decrease?

Star went on to criticize the Pentagon for saying that there has been progress for five years (and there has been), but that she needed to see "a little bit more than one month before she gets too excited." Again, the numbers are four months straight of decline.

Either these two ladies are utterly stupid, or they didn't pay attention to the fact that these were four month numbers, or they are running damage control to negate any positives in Iraq. I'll let you decide which it is.

The bottom line is that US troop deaths are at a 14 month low. How is that for irreversible momentum? To top that off ... overall Iraqi violence, ethno-sectarian murders, and terrorism in Iraq and around the world is down from 2006.

If they were looking for more than a month of progress ... they got it. We can add in the increase in Iraqi cooperation with coalition forces, and the massive increase in weapons caches seized also. All have been increasing every month since June of '06. Even with a steady year of major leaps forward in Iraq ... the news still will not cover it because they are waiting for the insurgents to have a good month.

More Iranian Students Protest Ahmadinejad

These kids are living on borrowed time.

The headline says that these protests are "rare", but that is blatantly false. Mahmoud has been having a lot of trouble with students protesting him the past several years, and he has responded harshly.

AP:

An estimated 100 students staged a rare demonstration Monday against Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, calling him a "dictator" and scuffling with hardline students at Tehran University.

Ahmadinejad, who was giving a speech to a select group at the university to mark the beginning of the academic year, ignored the chants of "death to the dictator" and continued with his speech on the merits of science and the pitfalls of Western-style democracy, witnesses said.

The protesters scuffled with hardline students who were chanting "thank you president" while police looked on from outside the university gates. The protesters dispersed after the car carrying Ahmadinejad left the campus.

Given that several students have been arrested in recent years for this same act ... these students must now look over their shoulder.

Obama Speaks More Religiously Than Bush

I'm sure you recall all the criticism Bush has received for being religious, and the ridiculous things that have been said about him for it. I've heard stupid things like Bush wants to convert all Muslims to Christianity, he wants to remove separation of church and state (which doesn't exist anyway), he speaks to God (literally), and bunch of other nonsense. Naturally, the SP left has made it a goal to attack him and the religious right because of their beliefs. However, I can't recall Bush ever saying that he wanted to create the 'kingdom' on earth here in the US. If Bush would have said that ... there would have been no end to the attacks on his faith.

There is someone who wants to create the 'kingdom' right here, and it isn't a Republican. It's Barack Obama ... who's religious speech to evangelicals this weekend far surpassed any religious rhetoric ever heard out of Bush's mouth. Obama, however, is being praised ... not criticized for his words.

CNN:

Republicans no longer have a firm grip on religion in political discourse, Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama told Sunday worshippers.

"We're going to keep on praising together. I am confident that we can create a Kingdom right here on Earth."

There are times on the stump when Obama even sounds like a pastor himself, referencing New Testament phrases and sometimes saying "I'm not gonna preach to ya!" when emphasizing a point to his audience.

According to the religion-based Web site Beliefnet.com and its "God-o-Meter" tool that measures "God-talk" in the presidential campaigns, Obama invokes religion more than any of his Democratic competitors.

Let me be clear ... I don't have a problem with him talking about religion or his beliefs. I found it odd that many people who criticize Bush over his religion are silent about Obama's speech.

Here's a small sample of the comments on CNN's website for the story.

Student Socialist Club Allowed At High School Amidst Criticism

Roosevelt High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota allows a socialist club to meet and discuss socialist ideals every Thursday morning, and many are uncomfortable with the situation. The school, however, feels the student club is protected by the Equal Access Act passed in 1984. It states that no school administrator can pass judgment on school clubs.

Schools must allow additional clubs to be organized, as long as:

  • Attendance is voluntary.
  • The group is student-initiated.
  • The group is not sponsored by the school itself, by teachers, by other school employees, or by the government. This means that such employees cannot promote, lead or participate in a meeting. However, a teacher or other school employee can be assigned to a group for "custodial purposes."
  • The group is not disruptive. i.e. it "does not materially and substantially interfere with the orderly conduct of educational activities within the school."
  • Persons from the community may not "direct, conduct, control, or regularly attend activities of student groups."

The school is required to treat all of its student-led non-curriculum clubs equally:

  • Each club must have equal access to meeting spaces, the PA system, school periodicals, bulletin board space, etc.
  • School officials have the right to monitor meetings.
  • Officials can require all clubs to follow a set of rules, including non-discrimination policies. However, a court has ruled that religious clubs can discriminate against persons of other faiths in their selection of officers.
  • The school may limit meeting times and locations, but must apply rules equally to all groups.
  • The school may prohibit people from the community from attending student clubs. However, they must apply this rule equally to all groups.

Now I am skeptical that all student clubs will be permitted under these guidelines, but we'll get to that in a bit. Here's the story ...

Keloland:

The Young Socialists Club at Roosevelt High School is looking for new members. Their flyer asks for students to quote "Come explore the vast realm that is socialism." But also on the flyer is a picture of Karl Marx, who is best known as a revolutionary communist. One of his famous quotes, "Workers of the World Unite," is printed boldly on the handout. But Roosevelt Principal Don Ryswyk says those references do not concern him.

He says, “At Roosevelt we have young Democrats club, we have the young Republicans club and they were asking for a young Socialists club and so I saw it as an equity issue and the students talked to me about some of the things they were going to research and I also saw it as an educational club.”

Under the Equal Access Act passed in 1984, no school administrator can pass judgment on school clubs.

Linda Hallstrom with the Sioux Falls school district says, “Basically what that act says is that school students have a right to form clubs and that we as a district or at the school building level cannot discriminate based on view point of those clubs.”

That's why Ryswyk approved the new group. He says there are several student run clubs at Roosevelt, which allows teenagers with different interests to get involved.

“We love to see kids involved in clubs because they get involved in school, they make friends, and we know that kids when they get involved in school they make better students,” he says.

But he says if a club harms students, or is based on hate, it will not be accepted.
Ryswyk says, “I'm not going to allow a club into my school that's gonna be harmful or hateful or anything like that and there needs to be some good.”

With all of that said ... I wonder if this school would allow a fascist club. Not a nazi club, but a fascist club. Would they be willing to weather the storm of criticism from the general public? I doubt it, and a student should attempt it just to make a point.

UPDATE: Judge Orders Schools To Warn Students Of Al Gore Movie Bias

UPDATE:

A CNN meteorologist applauded the news that a judge has ordered schools to warn students of the bias in "An Inconvenient Truth."

You can read more about his comments, including a transcript, here.

UPDATE 2:

Al Gore is still refusing to accept any debate challenges on global warming. This is nothing new. He's been hiding like a scared little punk for years, and refusing to debate anyone on global warming. Junk Science issued a debate challenge to Al Gore years ago, and he has refused to accept the challenge.

ORIGINAL POST:

This judge knows that the inconvenient truth is that "An Inconvenient Truth" is not truthful.

Daily Mail:

Schools will have to issue a warning before they show pupils Al Gore's controversial film about global warming, a judge indicated yesterday.

The move follows a High Court action by a father who accused the Government of 'brainwashing' children with propaganda by showing it in the classroom.

Stewart Dimmock said the former U.S. Vice-President's documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, is unfit for schools because it is politically biased and contains serious scientific inaccuracies and 'sentimental mush'.

He wants the video banned after it was distributed with four other short films to 3,500 schools in February.

Mr Justice Burton is due to deliver a ruling on the case next week, but yesterday he said he would be saying that Gore's Oscar-winning film does promote 'partisan political views'.

This means that teachers will have to warn pupils that there are other opinions on global warming and they should not necessarily accept the views of the film.

He said: 'The result is I will be declaring that, with the guidance as now amended, it will not be unlawful for the film to be shown.'

They will still be allowed to show the film, but with an asterisk.

Let's not forget that there has been a war waged by parents who know "An Inconvenient Truth" is scientifically inaccurate. They've been trying to get the movie banned altogether.

You must also consider that Al Gore was training over a 1000 people to go out and show his movie to kids.

Then there is the case of the movie "The Great Global Warming Swindle" was made to counter "An Inconvenient Truth" specifically. This movie is not shown in schools, and was even the victim of scientists (who get a lot of funding from the global warming crowd) who wanted to censor the film.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The only true culprit using the 'politics of fear' is the global warming crowd.

UPDATE: Police Officer Punches, Pepper Sprays 15 Year Old Girl

This has all the makings of the next Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton crusade. It has a white police officer, a black teenage girl, a punch, and some pepper spray. So what's the catch? It's justified.

Watch the video and you'll see clearly that the girl was resisting arrest for several minutes, and the officer was conducting himself professionally. At one point the officer gets a good hold of the girl's right arm to bring it behind her back. The girl then bends down and bites the officer's arm. In self defense the officer hits the girl one time on the head, pulls out his pepper spray, and sprays the girl in the eyes. Finally, he is able to get her under control, and takes her into custody.

The police chief is supporting the officer.

"It is shocking to see that a police officer has had to use that level of force against a child. But ... my opinion is he responded appropriately and in accordance with our policies."

It's just a matter of time before the race-baiting begins.

Of The 41 Dems Demanding Rush To Apologize ... 39 Of Them Refused To Condemn Personal Attacks On The Honor & Integrity Of Our Troops Last Month

I've spent the last two days pointing out this hypocrisy on my show, and blogged about my call to Sen. Reid's office here in Vegas.

Last month the Senate voted on the Cornyn Amendment which not only condemned the "Betray Us" ad, but it also condemned any personal attack on the honor and integrity of our troops.

The text of the amendment is as follows:

To express the sense of the Senate that General David H. Petraeus, Commanding General, Multi-National Force-Iraq, deserves the full support of the Senate and strongly condemn personal attacks on the honor and integrity of General Petraeus and all members of the United States Armed Forces.

Several Senate Democrats refused to strongly condemn personal attacks on the honor and integrity of our troops. They were:

  1. Akaka (D-HI)
  2. Bingaman (D-NM)
  3. Boxer (D-CA)
  4. Brown (D-OH)
  5. Byrd (D-WV)
  6. Clinton (D-NY)
  7. Dodd (D-CT)
  8. Durbin (D-IL)
  9. Feingold (D-WI)
  10. Harkin (D-IA)
  11. Inouye (D-HI)
  12. Kennedy (D-MA)
  13. Kerry (D-MA)
  14. Lautenberg (D-NJ)
  15. Levin (D-MI)
  16. Menendez (D-NJ)
  17. Murray (D-WA)
  18. Reed (D-RI)
  19. Reid (D-NV)
  20. Rockefeller (D-WV)
  21. Sanders (I-VT)
  22. Schumer (D-NY)
  23. Stabenow (D-MI)
  24. Whitehouse (D-RI)
  25. Wyden (D-OR)

Of the 25 above who refused to condemn personal attacks on our troops (because many of them engage in personal attacks themselves) ... only Bingaman and Feingold refused to sign Harry Reid's letter demanding that Clear Channel repudiate Rush Limbaugh for his words which Harry Reid called attacks on:

"The courage and character of those fighting and dying for him and for all of us."

Perhaps Reid should apologize for all the times he insulted the military.

So what exactly is the difference between honor and integrity, and courage and character? Why is it that these Dems are willing to condemn attacks on courage and character, but not honor and integrity? Of course we all know the answer to that ... politics. You'd have to be a fool to not think this is a strategy to build support for the fairness doctrine. For crying out loud, Levin admitted he only read the part of the transcript that Media Matters gave him.

Let's not forget that Media Matters was started by Center for American Progress who was founded by John Podesta, former chief of staff to former President Bill Clinton. You should also know that Hillary had a part in creating both organizations.

Clear Channel told Reid and his minions to go jump in a lake in this letter.

Far more important to the political wrangling going on for the fairness doctrine is the fact that Reid is demanding that Rush apologize to Jesse MacBeth. Whom Rush was specifically talking about on his show at the time. Why would the Democrats support such a character as MacBeth?

He is a proven phony (hence phony soldier), who is now an admitted and convicted phony. He also completely discredited Iraq Veterans Against the War. MacBeth was allowed to speak at IVAW rallies, and was a poster boy for their organization for a time. Yet this group that proclaims to be veterans didn't catch the falsehoods in MacBeth's statements, and image?

How can you trust them to be an honest organization again? The picture below is from their website, and is their featured soldier profile right now. This guy is claiming to be still on active duty?

Notice some things missing?

Harry Reid's political career is coming to an end. You now all know what we in Nevada have known for a long time about this guy. The only reason he was reelected last time was that Nevadans were hoping he could stop Yucca Mountain (which he helped bring here in the first place), but he's done nothing to make that a reality. Reid is nearly done with politics, but we will have to deal with his son, Rory. Don't you guys worry about that ... we'll take care of business on our end this time.

If the Dems are going to constantly act like spoiled children, and get caught lying, there may be hope in 2008. Problem is that too many people do not pay attention to all of this, and will not be prepared to cast their vote for the right candidate. In the meantime, we must keep up the good fight and fight for our troops against this slander so they can continue to make the great progress they've been making overseas.

The Senate Is On Fire ... Literally

Several suspicious fires have been set in Senate offices. No doubt, Rush Limbaugh will be blamed by Harry Reid.

AP:

U.S. Capitol Police reported four fires in Senate office buildings Wednesday. All were extinguished by midafternoon, but an investigation continued.

"They are suspicious in nature," said Sgt. Kimberly Schneider.

She said two fires in the Dirksen Senate Office Building and one in the Hart building next door were reported in women's bathrooms and were extinguished between 10:45 a.m. EDT and 12:30 p.m. A fourth, also in a Dirksen restroom, was reported later and extinguished by mid- afternoon, Schneider said.

There was at least one other similar fire last week in a Senate office building bathroom that was determined to have been caused by a cigarette, according to a knowledgeable Senate official who is not authorized to speak to reporters and demanded anonymity.

Capitol Police sent out a mass e-mail noting "a series of small fires that have occurred in the Senate Office Buildings in recent days," and asking for tips. The e-mail said that more building patrols have been added to investigate.

I suppose it could be a little wrath of God to let the Senators know that their lies are not going unnoticed.

Harry Reid Demands Rush Apologize To Fake Soldiers

Keep in mind that Reid is NOT asking Rush to apologize to real soldiers who oppose the war, but to the fake soldiers that Rush was talking about on his program the other day while he was talking with a real soldier.

Here's the deal ... I'm going to pass you onto Hotair for the story because they've done it well. I would like to add a couple of things onto their list pointing out Reid's hypocrisy.

It's ok for Reid and his money-machine to attack real soldiers for political gain, but it isn't ok for Rush to attack fake soldiers who've never served?

I called Reid's Las Vegas office just before writing this. I was put on hold, and it sounded like they were busy. It's pretty common for Nevadans to inundate Reid's office after he says stupid things.

They came back on the line and asked how they could help me. I identified myself immediately so they knew who I was, and said I was calling about Reid asking for Rush to apologize. Immediately, the tone of the other guys voice changed to a "not again" defeated, disconnected demeanor.

He said:

"Yes?"

To which I replied by saying:

"This is a joke isn't it?"

To my surprise he said:

"Yeah."

Clearly he didn't mean to, but it shows how he became a non-thinking robot once he knew I wasn't on his side. He then tried to speak over me, and was trying to say that he would pass it along. I interrupted him though, and was able to get out what I wanted to say.

"You do realize that Rush was talking about Jesse MacBeth ... who was a fake soldier who never served?"

He then responded by saying that he would:

"Relay my concerns to the senator."

Then we hung up.

Yet Another School Bans Hugging

The trend continues as the list of schools that have banned hugging continues to grow.

CBS 2:

Schools just say no to bullying and fighting, but hugging? CBS 2 West Suburban Bureau Chief Mike Puccinelli reports that a local middle school wants the embracing to stop.

"Last year we would see maybe as many as 10 students on one side (of the hallway), 10 on the other and then, going in opposite directions, would sort of have a hug line going on and you could see where that would be a problem," said Victoria Sharts, principal of Oak Park's Percy Julian Middle School.

Uh ... yeah?

It's been a while since I've been in school, and suppose things could have changed, but a "hug line." You've got to be kidding. No doubt large groups of friends get together and hug each other, but I find it nearly impossible to believe that the hallway would split in two like two sports teams after a game and hug each other. That's entirely too choreographed for me to buy into.

Sixth grader Isabella Miller disagrees with the crackdown. "I don't think that that's right"

Her father agrees with her.

"It seems like a crazy idea to me," Mark Miller said.

The principal says the rampant hugging is creating bottle necks in the hallway and making kids late for class. Furthermore she says although hugs are supposed to be handshakes from the heart some times they don't seem so innocent.

"Too long, too close, and usually between boys and girls," Sharts said.

Ok, so crack down on inappropriate touching. There is a huge difference between the two, and grown adults should easily be able to tell the difference between an innocent hug and groping.

It gets better though (it always does). This hug ban is part of a "comprehensive discipline and anti-bullying plan." Because we all know that hugging erodes discipline among children, and leads to bullying. I did, however, save the best for last. You see, just when you might be thinking to yourself that maybe this school is just trying to prevent themselves from any legal trouble, or that perhaps it is sensible to not have your child receive a hug from another kid ... we learn the truth of just how insane this policy really is.

High-fiving in the hallways is also frowned upon.

That evil, anti-discipline inducing, and bullying causing high-five. The bane of our children's existence.

U.S. Military Deaths In Iraq Lowest In 14 Months

Guess what? Harry Reid's website has no mention of it ... SURPRISE!

Breitbart:

US military losses in Iraq for September stood at 70 on Sunday, the lowest monthly figure since July last year, according to an AFP tally based on Pentagon figures.

The figure also marks the fourth consecutive drop in the monthly death toll following a high of 121 in May. June saw 93 deaths, July 82 and August 79. The monthly toll in July 2006 was 53.

Don't forget about the stark decline in ethno-sectarian murders, and overall violence in Iraq either kiddies.

Hell Hath No Fury Like An Angry Israeli

So what do you get when your people faced genocide, you attempted to live peacefully with your neighbors only to have said neighbors invade several times, you are still surrounded by enemies who are developing nuclear weapons, you live in fear of constant rocket attacks, suicide bombings, kidnappings, and an international body (UN) refuses to even acknowledge you're on the map?

Well, you get 72% of your population ready to nuke somebody ... that's what.

The Jerusalem Post:

Approximately 72 percent of Israelis support the use of nuclear weapons in certain circumstances, according to a Canadian survey released recently.

I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!

Al Qaeda Running Scared In Iraq

PLEASE ... FOR THE LOVE OF ALLAH ... HELP US! THE AMERICANS ARE COMING! THE AMERICANS ARE COMING!

Well, you get the idea. That was the basic summary of a letter written by an aide to AQI leader Al Masri. This isn't the first time we've had AQI pinned against a wall, but we have to keep the pressure up this time.

Oh yeah, half of Masri's top aides are wondering where the virgins are.

World Tribune:

The U.S. military is eliminating Al Qaida's chain of command in Iraq.

Officials said several leading aides to Al Qaida network chief Abu Ayoub Al Masri have been killed by the U.S.-led coalition. They said two out of the four foreign aides of Al Masri remain alive.

On Sept. 25, the U.S. military killed an Al Qaida chief deemed responsible for transporting foreign operatives to Iraq. The Al Qaida commander, identified as Abu Osama Al Tunisi, was killed in a U.S. air strike as he met his colleagues in Musayib, about 60 kilometers south of Baghdad.

Ok, there's the background. Now here's the funny stuff.

Shortly before he died, Al Tunisi wrote a letter that warned of a threat to Al Qaida operations in Karkh. The lettter, found by the U.S. military, sought guidance from Al Qaida leaders amid coalition operations that hampered Al Tunisi's network.

"We are so desperate for your help," the letter read.

"This was a dangerous terrorist who is no longer a part of Al Qaida in Iraq," U.S. Brig. Gen. Joseph Anderson, chief of staff of the Multinational Corps Iraq, said. "His death deals a significant blow to their operation. Abu Osama Al Tunisi was one of the most senior leaders within Al Qaida in Iraq."

I guess backup couldn't get there in time.

Illegals Cost L.A. $1 Billion A Year

I know ... it's shocking.

Nationally, illegal aliens are more of a burden on social welfare programs than poor Americans. In fact, illegals use more food stamps than any other group of people in the US, and our government is promoting this travesty. If we could just prevent them from sucking the life-blood out of our welfare system ... perhaps we wouldn't need to constantly hear about how we "need" to spend more on social programs.

KHTS:

LA County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich has announced that a new report shows illegal aliens and their families in Los Angeles County collected over $35 million in welfare and food stamp allocations in July.

In the report, illegals are said to have collected nearly $20 million in welfare assistance for July 2007 and an additional $15 million in monthly food stamp allocations for an estimated annual cost of $440 million.

“Illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact on Los Angeles County taxpayers,”said Antonovich. “In addition to $220 million for public safety and $400 million for healthcare, the $440 million in welfare allocations bring the total cost to County taxpayers that exceeds $1 billion a year -- this does not include the skyrocketing cost of education.”

Seriously, we can't work out a trade for all the money we hand over to illegals, and get some oil out of Mexico?
