Obama Makes Up Another Number Off The Top Of His Head

Not only did Obama make an innocent mistake by saying that 10,000 died in the Kansas tornadoes, but now he is flat out making up numbers about fuel efficiency. Just like the Kansas National Guard scorned Obama, and others, for saying they didn't have the equipment to conduct recovery efforts ... Toyota is scorning Obama for saying their cars average 45 mpg.

Chicago Tribune:

"While our fuel standards haven't moved from 27.5 miles per gallon in two decades, both China and Japan have surpassed us, with Japanese cars now getting an average of 45 miles to the gallon," Obama said.

"I'm not sure where he got that figure," Toyota spokesman Mike Michels said. "No carmaker gets 45 m.p.g. Ours is closer to 30 m.p.g."

We should all forgive Obama for the 10,000 dead remark ... he simply misspoke. That isn't the case here. He either lied, or was lied to by someone advising him. No matter which scenario it may be it poses a serious problem for Obama who has been increasingly making misstatements while on the campaign trail.

Obama also made some other mistakes in that statement. China and Japan don't have fuel standards, and our fuel standard was mandated by the government ... not the automakers. Mr. Mateja (who wrote the article) rightly asserted that if Obama were elected ... the first thing he should do is appoint a fact checker.
