And You All Laughed At Me When I Said There Would Be A New Law Because A Man Sued Arm & Hammer For Not Warning Him He'd Get Arrested For Making Crack

Well ... where's my apology?

Do you remember George Allen Ward? He sued Arm & Hammer for $425 million (yes ... million) because the label on the baking soda box failed to warn him that if he cooked up THEIR PRODUCT, baking soda, with cocaine, he might end up serving a 200-month prison sentence on crack cocaine charges. He even offered some suggestions as to what warnings should be added to the label.

"The use of this product with illegal drugs is punishable by law and is prohibited."

"The use of this product with illegal drugs is punishable by enhanced penalties by the laws of the United States of America."

Nice huh?

This story broke at the same time that a woman was suing Kraft Foods for fraud because their guacamole didn't contain enough avocado.

I saw the trend for what it was ... an opportunity to write new laws. I was ridiculed on my show, and in listener's emails. They said, "Casey, there is no way in hell legislatures will write laws for baking soda. It's only baking soda."

Ahah! You've been pwned!

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A St. Louis legislator wants to require that baking soda be sold behind the pharmacy counter, as part of an effort aimed at a base ingredient in crack cocaine.

The proposal by Democratic Representative Talibdin El-Amin is modeled after a state law that requires some cold medicines to be placed behind the pharmacy counter because they contain ingredients used to make meth.

The anti-meth law requires customers to show a photo I-D and sign a book specifying their name, address and how much they purchased.

El-Amin's bill would implement similar requirements for the purchase of sodium bicarbonate, otherwise known as baking soda. The measure was filed last month and has yet to receive a hearing.

Federal drug enforcement officers questioned whether adopting the restrictions for a commonly used product would work.

Yep ... whey protein is next because it contains animal products.
