Albright - "Iraq is going to go down in history as the greatest disaster in American foreign policy"

This is laughable!

The Associated Press - ATLANTA

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright said Thursday that through the war in Iraq the United States has lost its moral authority, and it will be up to the next president to restore the "goodness of American power."

"I think that Iraq is going to go down in history as the greatest disaster in American foreign policy," Albright said, with former President Jimmy Carter at her side in one of a series of "Conversations at the Carter Center."

First of all ... Jimmy Carter has no business criticizing anyone else's middle east policy. He played a huge role in showing weakness to the enemy, and they grew in strength all these years in part to his inaction.

As for Albright ... he she believes we've lost our "moral authority" and "goodness?" How? In what way?

Is it that we are fighting a war at all? No that can't be. We fought a couple of conflicts under her watch.

Perhaps it's because innocent Iraqi children are getting hurt in Iraq (by the terrorists). No ... that can't be it. She doesn't care about innocent Iraqi children. She went on 60 Minutes in 1996, and was asked about the 500,000 innocent Iraqi children that have died as a result of US sanctions on Iraq ... here is her response:

Lesley Stahl on U.S. sanctions against Iraq: We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: I think this is a very hard choice, but the price--we think the price is worth it.

--60 Minutes (5/12/96)

Worth it? That doesn't sound like the US had "moral authority" or "goodness" under her administration either. Perhaps we didn't lose our "goodness" during this administration.

Then-Secretary of State Madeleine Albright's quote, calmly asserting that U.S. policy objectives were worth the sacrifice of half a million Arab children.

Not only can she not back up her "goodness" comments with anything substantive, but she was partly responsible for North Korea's nuclear success.

As for her comment that Iraq will go down in history as the greatest disaster in American foreign policy ... I guess we'll have to see if we end up in a shooting/nuclear war with North Korea won't we?

If the picture of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam was a smoking gun ... what is this? At least Rummy didn't have drinks with the enemy.
